1582-İstanbul-Şehzade Mehmet'in sünnet düğünü-Surnamei Humayun-Esnaf Alayı

The artwork

In the work Surname-i Humayun 367-A, drawn in 1582 by Nakkaş Osman and his apprentice, the Ottoman trades people are depicted during the circumcision ceremony of Şehzade Mehmet. Two of them are playing Mangala.

Nakkaş Osman was the chief miniaturist for the Ottoman Empire during the later half of the sixteenth century. The dates of his birth and death are poorly known, but most of his works are dated to the last quarter of the sixteenth century.

The original miniature is in Topkapi Palace with the record number 367.
